Moor Run

Gait assessment and shoe fitting · Canberra, ACT

We are not a shop. We do not hold stock, we take no money from any brand, and we do not sell you the shoe at the end. You leave with a written note of what fits you and where to buy it, including online if that is cheaper.
  1. You run, we watch Fifteen minutes on the treadmill and, if the weather allows, a lap outside. Outside matters — people run differently on a belt and pretending otherwise is how bad fittings happen.
  2. We look at what you already own Bring your current shoes, worn, unwashed. The wear pattern tells us more in a minute than any amount of standing on a pressure plate.
  3. We measure both feet, loaded Standing, with weight through them, late in the day. Feet are not the same size as each other and are not the size they were at 25.
  4. We try things on Six to ten pairs from our own worn-out library, in your size, so you can feel a difference rather than be told about one.
  5. You get it in writing Two or three models, the size in each, and what to avoid. Emailed the same evening.

What it costs

One hour, $80. A follow-up within twelve months, if something is not working, $30. If we cannot tell you anything useful — it happens, perhaps once a month — you pay nothing and we will say so before the hour is up.

What we will not tell you

We will not diagnose an injury, name a condition, or tell you to run through pain. If something hurts in a way that has not settled in a fortnight, that is a physio or a GP and we will say so plainly rather than sell you an hour.

We also will not tell you that a shoe will make you faster. Nobody can.

Booking

By appointment only, weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Email is the only way to book — we do not answer the phone during a fitting, which is the point of it.
